Welcome to Waitaha - Waitaha Day Spa was created by New Zealander Lareesa Herron, as a unique place for men and women to escape from the stress and pressure of everyday life. Designed to subliminally awaken every sense, you will be immersed in a blend of cultures, colours and textures from New Zealand and around the world.
Lareesa (Ngati Pakeha), was very honoured to be given the name Waitaha by a land healer Irania of Te Aupouri and Te Rawara. Waitaha was chosen as the Waitaha legend speaks of the Waitaha people as coming from the stars and being spiritualists and healers and because Lareesa is from that area of New Zealand. Te Aorangi, Irania’s sister and friend of Lareesa’s was instrumental in the development of Waitaha and the blending of the two cultures that it represents. Lareesa’s dream is for Waitaha to become established enough to provide healing and massage for sick and terminally ill children.
Waitaha means silent (or peaceful) waters, our logo and phrase ‘water from the stars’ incorporates the meaning of the word Waitaha plus the legend of the Waitaha people.
